Introduction
Our client is looking for a Cost Estimator to prepare cost estimates and cash flow forecasts for client tenders, as well as estimates for major variations in projects under execution. You will develop different estimate scenarios to provide insight into costs and help determine the risk budget.
Organization
You will report to the Head of Project Management Office. You will work with tender teams, Procurement, Project Managers and Project Controllers, and support and coach Junior Cost Estimators.
Function
Your responsibilities include:
- Preparing cost estimates based on the Scope of Work and Work Breakdown Structure, including risk budgets and cash flow analyses.
- Preparing cost price calculations, client pricing schedules and reports for cost and sales reviews.
- Coordinating input from other departments and, together with Procurement, obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Identifying concerns within tender teams and advising on mitigation measures.
- After contract award, helping Project Managers and Project Controllers set up cost control reports based on the estimates.
- Supporting Junior Cost Estimators and improving the central cost database and estimating methods.
- You will work in line with values, policies and procedures. Employees may be asked to participate in emergency response when required.
Requirements
- A bachelors or masters degree in Engineering or Technical Business Administration.
- Strong analytical, logical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and practical approach.
- Ability to work independently and in different project teams, including under pressure.
- Clear communication and presentation skills, sound commercial judgement and a collaborative approach to colleagues, customers and suppliers.
- Practical knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and willingness to learn new cost estimating software.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
- Experience or an affinity with the maritime or offshore industry is an advantage.
